SUMMARY

HIRING SALARY RANGE

MINIMUM HOURLY RATE: $31.24

MAXIMUM HOURLY RATE: Depends on qualifications

This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and providing quality instruction as well as conducting student evaluations, advising; maintain necessary records. The work is performed under the supervision of the Vocational-Technical Department Head.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching students in the subject area of Computer Information Systems Technology.
  • Is able to clearly train students on fundamental functions and operations of the computer. Topics being taught will include hardware components, basic computer operations, security issues, and software applications.
  • Will have a good understanding of MS Office and tools.
  • Is able to teach programming and logic.
  • Has a good understanding of information systems networking and security.
  • Teaching subject area courses in seated, online, hybrid format. Duties include submitting required reports and maintain accurate student records
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Reporting student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyzing student data.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on course curriculum.
  • Advising students on how to be successful and achieve goals.
  • Staying updated on innovations and changes within their course field.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Perform other professional or instructor duties as required by NC Community College System and JSCC.

  • QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education/Skills

    Required: A master's degree in the teaching discipline or a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.

    Preferred: Bilingual; Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

    Experience

    Required: Experience in computer technology that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
