THE ROLE

The Compliance and Privacy Manager position within the Office of General Counsel will be responsible for establishing and embedding a compliance framework for the University, managing privacy breaches and complaints, and providing reports to the University Executive and Council on how the University is meeting its compliance obligations.

About You

We are seeking applicants with qualifications in legal and/or compliance management and expertise in managing compliance and privacy frameworks, policy and stakeholder engagement for large and complex organisations. You have strong knowledge, and practical application, of compliance and privacy legislation, regulations, standards and policies with a portfolio of work in helping organisations to meet their statutory obligations, effectively manage complaints and breaches, and develop strategies of risk mitigation.

You also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels, including with executives and senior management.

  • Qualification in Law and/or compliance management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing compliance and privacy with legislative, regulatory, standards and policies obligations for a large organisation within a complex environment.
  • Delivering expert compliance and privacy advice, solutions and support to the overall business with commitment to build awareness and competency throughout the organisation.
  • Reviewing, implementing and maintaining compliance frameworks to ensure organisations meet the legislative and industry standards.
  • Conducting enquiries and leading investigations into privacy breaches, as well as reporting these breaches to regulators.
  • Leading reviews and preparation of reports for executives and senior management, as well as undertaking risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Success in engaging and influencing at all levels, including executives, senior management, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • This position requires a Criminal History Check.
