Position Summary
The Communications Officer operates a computer-aided dispatch system, receives emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and assists visitors to the Campus Police Station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor telephone system for trouble alarms and report to vendor and Director of Telecommunications when necessary.
Maintain records with Conference & Events held on campus.
Education and/or Experience
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of College personnel and/or outside individuals/organizations. Must be a high school graduate or GED.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good computer skills are required. Ability to work and maintain a positive relationship with the Campus Police Department and other personnel. Higher- than-average multi-tasking skills are needed.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Licenses/Certifications
DCJIS qualification every 2 years.
