About School of Biomedical Sciences

As part of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences since 2015, the School of Biomedical Sciences has 85 research groups across three departments, awarding-winning teachers and more than 2500 equivalent full-time student enrolments each year. About the Role

As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning, developing and delivering effective and targeted multi-channel communications campaigns across the School of Biomedical Sciences. You will work collaboratively with Faculty and University wide Marketing and Communications teams, internal stakeholders and external partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring effective and timely delivery of School communications campaigns to meet key project objectives and timelines
  • Creating, developing and reviewing content across print, online, media releases, video and podcasts
  • Collaborating with internal media teams to develop media opportunities and assisting with the collation of Biomedical Science ‘stories' in a journalistic manner
  • Creating, developing and publishing content for School's website and social media
  • You will be actively engaged in the School culture including professional development activities and attending internal/external campus conferences and seminars and events.

    About You

    You will have exceptional attention to detail spanning printed and digital communications materials and channels. You will demonstrate the ability to work constructively as part of a team or independently. You will be an experienced communications specialist, with a journalistic background and possess highly effective written communication skills.

    You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in journalism, marketing, communications, Biomedicine, business/law or a related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of, and experience with, journalistic writing style for Researchers/subject matter experts and Science/General public publications/channels
  • Solid knowledge of digital marketing, and expertise in applying analytics and producing concise management reporting
  • To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check.
