POSITION DETAILS

The Director of Marketing will lead strategic marketing within the Office of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs (OCMPA), which is responsible for the College's identity and overall communications program. The scope of the office includes publicity; media relations; marketing and related collateral material; website design and content; digital communications strategy; graphic design; internal and external communications; fundraising marketing; recruitment marketing; social media; and government relations and community relations. Reporting to OCMPA's Vice President, the Director will develop, direct, and implement the College's strategic marketing plan with a focus on digital marketing and paid and organic social. The candidate should be a strong writer, creative thinker, and an innate storyteller who brings a data-driven approach to all marketing efforts.

DUTIES:

  • Develops, executes, and continuously makes data-driven adjustments to marketing plans that feature a range of digital and traditional marketing tactics: the full suite of digital advertising tools (display, SEO, SEM, keywords), paid and organic social media, email marketing and drip campaigns, and traditional collateral (postcards, flyers, brochures).

  • Researches, understands, and appropriately targets marketing efforts to key audiences, including prospective undergraduate and graduate students for a range of degree programs, and external constituent groups for affinity building and fundraising.

  • Serves as the main point of contact and project manager with internal clients (Baruch's three schools and various business units such as enrollment management and college advancement) for all marketing needs.

  • As Baruch's brand manager, maintains collaborative partnerships across the institution and guides the use and integration of College- and School- specific brand points, with the goal of expanding external brand awareness and strengthening each School's market position.

  • Understands the tenets of digital, print, and multimedia design and can advise on look, feel, approach, and content development (scripting, copy writing) as needed for different audiences, collateral types, and placements.

  • Oversees media buying efforts for brand building and recruitment marketing tied to clients' specific goals, including the quantitative tracking of effectiveness. Advises internal clients and appropriate external agencies on the creation and delivery of impactful marketing content.

  • Produces, manages, and oversees project-specific budgets, ensuring adherence to cost parameters, ongoing tracking of budgetary progress and compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Leads RFP processes with clients and Procurement Department to secure external service providers as needed.

  • Leads the College's GoogleAnalytics efforts, developing and monitoring key metrics of marketing effectiveness. Produces regular marketing analytics reports for clients and the College overall.

  • Manages and mentors several team members.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.

  • Experience in all aspects of institutional brand building and digital and print marketing.

  • Strong and creative marketing writer.

  • Candidate must have management experience in growing teams.

  • Strong customer-service philosophy and experience balancing the needs of internal clients in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Experience hiring and managing external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation, quality control and budget development.

  • Media buying experience across traditional and digital advertising and promotions landscapes, including the ability to quantify the results.

  • The ability to inspire and produce high-quality marketing content that exemplifies strong messaging, writing, and graphic design in digital and traditional environments.

  • Experience managing collaborative and cohesive teams.

    $111,560 - $124,656; salary commensurate with education and experience.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

    After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

    If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

    Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted.
