Position Number 716624 Position Job Title Col Asst Professor/Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Status Non-Tenure Track Position Summary

The New Mexico State University (NMSU) Autism Diagnostic and Treatment Center is currently looking for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to work with pediatric clients to conduct comprehensive assessments and make appropriate recommendations. This position also includes providing education to family/caregivers and other professionals. Experience working with clients with autism spectrum disorder is preferred. This position will be given the rank of College Assistant Professor (non-tenure track).

Specific duties include but are not limited to: o Conduct developmental screening/assessments and consult with family members and other professionals working with the family

o Educate family members and caregivers on different strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over of recommendations to community settings

o Provide diagnostic services in diverse settings such as patient homes, family or daycare homes, daycare centers, and/or other community settings

o Assist in providing information to allow insurance billing when necessary

o Participate as a team member in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and meetings

o Support collaboration throughout the University community

o Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA and State & Federal regulations) and submit records to agency within established deadlines

o Provide supervision and guidance to Graduate Assistants working with the Autism Diagnostic Center

Candidates will possess: o Previous experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder

o Possess strong clinical and interpersonal skills

o Must be reliable, punctual, team-driven, and professional

o Able to independently implement programming without continual supervision

o Demonstrate a high-level of organizational skills

o Must have personal means of transportation (willing to travel if needed)

o Desire to work in a collaborative environment and have opportunity for growth in an organization

o The ability to interact positively, cooperatively, and respectfully with all collaborators and customers including patients, families, employees, and other health care providers. Please note that position availability is dependent on the continuation of state contract funds.

Required Qualifications

Education. Candidates must be a graduate of a master's degree from a program in speech-language pathology approved by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA).

Certification. Candidates must possess the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).

Experience. Candidate must have previous clinical experience in the treatment of ASD as well as assessing speech and language deficits typically associated with this disorder, including typical and atypical child language development and experience with variability within the ASD population.

Background Check. Candidates must successfully pass a background check by start date.
