Job Summary
The Co-Lead Educator has the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety
and well-being of all the children in a classroom and the Center.
The Co-Lead's role is to support the mission and philosophy of the center
Provide a nurturing, consistent, developmentally appropriate environment
that meets the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of young
children
Develop and maintain parent relationships and collaborate with colleagues
Abide by all federal and state licensing standards, and all policies and
procedures set forth in both the Bowdoin College and Children's Center
handbooks.
New Hires in The Children's Center will receive a $500 Sign-Bonus (½
paid at first check and ½ paid after 90 days)
Hourly rate for this position is $22.50/per hour
Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
Associates Degree in early childhood education, or a related field, and 6
years' experience working with children birth – 8 years old (in an
accredited child care program); or a minimum of 2 years' experience
working with children birth – 8 years old (in an accredited child care
program) and a Bachelors' Degree in early childhood education or a
Bachelor's Degree an unrelated field with commitment to complete nine
college level/for credit courses in early childhood education to meet
NAEYC standards.
Preferred:
Bachelors degree and working toward a Master's degree in early childhood
education, or a related field, with experience working with children birth
– 8 years old.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
A valid Driver's license and the ability to meet the requirements of the
College's Motor Vehicle Use Policy
Current CPR/First Aid certification
Must also sign a Child Abuse Policy statement
Complete the College's OSHA bloodborne pathogen training and show proof of
Hepatitis B vaccination (or submit a written declination statement).
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication
skills
Computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, and internet research)
Ability and willingness to learn additional programs
A genuine commitment to the field of early childhood education.
Preferred:
Experience working with emergent curriculum or Reggio Emilia inspired
programs as well as an interest in working in play-based and nature-based
environments
Standard Work Days and Hours
40 hours/week between hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 pm, Monday – Friday.
This position is a full-time year round position (1.00 FTE).
