The purpose of this role is to contribute to the work of the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) which is based at the Botnar Research Centre (Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre). The Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) develops and manages surgical research projects to the highest standards and is proactive in engaging researchers and running surgical trials and delivering high quality data https:// www. situ.ox.ac.uk.
Under the guidance of senior staff, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of a cohort study, setting up and supporting the participating sites and arranging their ethical/R&D approvals and Trial Agreements. You will assist in the writing of study protocols, materials, training packages, and instructions, and in the design of case report forms and trial database systems. You will also provide support by preparing for and organising Management Group and Steering committee meetings, and preparing progress reports for funders, oversight and ethics committees, and other stakeholders. You will track expenditure against the project budget and (assisted by a Data Entry Clerk) oversee data entry and quality in the trial database.
You will hold a degree in a biomedical or associated subject or hold equivalent qualifications/experience. You will understand clinical research methodology, good clinical practice, and the research governance framework, and have experience of techniques for medical research information management e.g., data coding, entry validation, and reporting. Proven communication, administrative and project management skills including the ability to set up and follow written procedures, and a critical and intelligent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy are also essential. Experience as a trial coordinator/manager (especially working within trials involving minors) and of UK clinical research structures/regulatory systems is desirable.
This post is offered full-time, although part time (minimum 80% FTE) would be considered. It is a fixed term appointment for two years.
