Clinical Psychologist

Department of Experimental Psychology, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter

We are seeking a clinical psychologist to work on a new programme of research to develop and test a virtual reality cognitive treatment for needle fears in young people. The Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) team, led by Prof Daniel Freeman, work to understand why mental health problems happen, use that knowledge to develop better treatments, and implement advances into clinical services.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an important programme of treatment development for young people that could have widespread use. The position would suit a clinical psychologist keen to apply cognitive theory and therapeutic techniques in the development of digital innovations for the mental health of young people, and who wishes to develop a clinical academic career.

The post is fixed term for 18 months funded by the Beryl Alexander Charity.

The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) with a commitment to producing theory-driven cognitive treatments and experience working with young people, especially with mental health difficulties. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the flexibility to work some irregular hours are essential. Although based at Oxford you are likely to travel throughout the trusts, which would be facilitated by having a valid driving licence and access to independent transport.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 2 December 2022 will be considered.

You will be required to upload a covering letter explaining how you meet the job requirements, as well as a CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
