Dialysis Apheresis Resource Team (Full-time, Day Shift) -

The Clinical Nurse D-DART (Dialysis/Apheresis Resource Team) is a seasoned nursing expert that provides multiple types of highly specialized and complex dialysis and apheresis treatments and procedures in multiple Magnet Recognized tertiary care academic medical centers licensed under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH). Serves pediatric and adult stable and unstable fragile patients in all settings and levels of acuity, e.g., emergent, critical, intermediate, acute, and outpatient ambulatory care. Utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct/indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care, treatment and procedures. Specialized procedures include, but are not limited to, Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Continual Renal Replacement therapy, Apheresis (Total Plasma Exchange, White Blood Cell Depletion, Red Blood Cell Exchange, Liposorber, Photopheresis, and Stem Cell). Functions in a patient-centered care model of practice and performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) autonomously and in accordance with established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support. Functions within the expectations of a highly proficient professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Engages and motivates others to engage in opportunities to directly and indirectly influence decision-making for point-of-care clinical practice by supporting and participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Excels in applying theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in adult and pediatric nephrology and apheresis nursing. Supports clinical research program and participates in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved research. Inspires and mentors others in the advancement of evidenced-based practice at point-of- care to optimize patient outcomes. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and enthusiastically embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Demonstrates expertise in service recovery methodologies and capably resolves issues with speed and sensitivity. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree or Diploma Degree in Nursing required. Minimum of three years' experience in dialysis or apheresis nursing required. Must meet CN-D criteria outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program handbook. Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required. Must also have one of the following: Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN), Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) issued by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission, or Qualifications in Apheresis (QIA) issued by the American Society for Apheresis (AFSA).

In-depth knowledge and advanced competencies in end-stage renal disease treatment modalities and apheresis procedures required. Solid knowledge of healthcare regulations and survey process required. Exhibits professional behavior at all times. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills. Able to read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required.
