The School is a leader in the study of nursing, midwifery, social work and
counselling, demonstrating excellence through innovative, creative, and
dynamic teaching and research, in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, and engaging
environment. The School is committed to conducting academic, research and
community partnership programs that are recognised for their excellence in
contributing to health and well-being in the community. The School is
responsible for a number of programs including the Bachelor of Social Work,
Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of
Midwifery dual degree, Master of Nursing Studies, Master of Social Work
Studies and the Master of Counselling degrees. It has extensive, well-
established partnerships in the hospital, health care, social welfare and
disability sectors and a developing cohort of research higher degree students.
In the most recent Shanghai rankings (2020) by subject area
nursing/midwifery, University of Queensland (UQ) was ranked 2nd in Australia
and 4th in the World. In the most recent Excellence in Research Australia
(ERA) ratings UQ received the maximum rating of 5 (“Well above World
Standard”) in Nursing, including midwifery and Social Work. UQ was the only
Australian University to achieve that rating in the discipline of social work.

About This Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Clinical Lecturer in Social Work to support the
coordination and clinical teaching of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate
levels. You will engage in both clinical teaching and research in Social Work,
include revising existing course materials and developing new materials,
supervising Honours and HDR students, developing a coherent research program,
and cultivating relationships with industry, professional bodies, and the
wider external Social Work community.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one
of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from
Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with
outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a
perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant

Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful for this opportunity, you will have completed an advanced
professional qualification or Higher Degree by Research in Social Work or
cognate field, partnered with a growing profile in clinical teaching and
clinical research within the field. You will hold experience in high quality
teaching across a variety of levels and settings, including experience in
course coordination activities. Your developing research track record will
include evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and evidence
obtaining external research funding. You will also hold a growing record of
supervising HDR students, experience in meaningful internal service roles, and
contributions towards external activities is desirable.
It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent is eligible for full
membership of the AASW.

The base salary will be in the range $99,542 - $ 118,206, plus super of up to
17%. The total package will be in the range $116,464 - $138,301.
