Under supervision, the incumbent will independently serve as a Radiology Clinical Imaging Research Analyst and Coordinator and and will provide all aspects of data recording and entry, data summary studies, and collection of image regions of interest. Incumbent will be responsible for secure transfer of data as a liaison for multiple sites, database entry and maintenance, and both PDFF and MRE (2D and 3D) data acquisition and analysis. Duties will include: image data acquisition and analysis, and reporting. The incumbent will develop and implement standard operating procedures. Incumbent will apply drawing, editing, and creative skills to create figures and videos to illustrate results for publications and grant proposals. In addition, utilizing theoretical knowledge and first-hand experience with the lab's research, incumbent will be expected to support research activities that contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant applications.

The incumbent will work closely with the senior clinical coordinator on the development of regulatory documentation, consenting of subjects, tracking of subjects, study startup, closeout, audit and other clinical coordination duties. Drawing on a strong understanding of the scientific and project design or assigned studies, the incumbent will provide regular reporting to the PIs on study progress, challenges, delays and will independently propose approaches to troubleshooting project challenges. The incumbent will be responsible for the acquisition of MR Imaging data through the independent operation of research MR systems at UCSD. The incumbent will also contribute to ultrasound research studies through consenting patients, data analysis and organization, and preparing agendas and summaries of scientific content for weekly conference calls.

  • Theoretical knowledge of biology, physics, or related field as typically attained by a Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment. Experience with laboratory procedures and values and experience in interpreting them to determine patient eligibility and potential risks.

  • Demonstrated skill in the scheduling of, consent of, and interacting with research subjects. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Proven experience in a research lab. Specifically, ability to perform standard repetitive techniques that may be required in research protocols related to specific lab.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply protocols in conducting research. Ability in following stepwise experimental protocols.

  • Working knowledge of MRE data analysis to include 2D and 3D image capture, analysis and documentation.

  • Proficient experience with the operation of a personal computer and software, such as MS Word and Excel. Knowledge to work with and learn new software for analysis.

  • Ability to compose letters, proposals, reports, presentations, and other comprehensive materials using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills to clearly and concisely provide accurate information.

  • Proven ability to conduct basic data analysis using computerized statistical software.

  • Strong skill accurate record keeping and ability to organize, analyze, and calculate data. Knowledge of basic math.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) needed to interact professionally and effectively in lab and clinical environments, as well as effectively and accurately document research procedures. Ability to read, comprehend and discuss research materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to collect and record MRI data using PACS, imaging consul.

  • Experience working with both Horos and Osirix Imaging software programs

  • Experience working with both Ultrasound and MR imaging modalities, preferable in abdominal imaging
  • MR operator certified.
  • Certification for MR scanner operation at UCSD, either at Keck or CTIPM systems
  • Experience with UC System Healthcare Research electronic systems: Epic, Impax, Redcap, Velos, etc.
  • Experience with UCSD systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary to complete research projects and meet grant deadlines.

  • Must be able to safely enter an MRI scan room. Must be willing to become MR operator certified.
