Clinical/Counseling Psychologist – Richardson and Multi-Specialty Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology, is seeking an outstanding clinical psychologist for a position in our Richardson and Multispecialty Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics. The position is primarily clinical, as we are looking for a talented interventional psychologist who is well-trained in providing effective outpatient therapy within a time-limited framework. The Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic serves a diverse patient population, most of whom are referred from within the UT Southwestern hospital and clinic system. UT Southwestern is a large, cutting-edge medical system which includes the William P. Clements Jr., University Hospital, Zale-Lipshy University Hospital, and partners with other major teaching hospitals in the Southwestern Medical District, including Children's Health, Children's Medical Center Dallas and Parkland Health and Hospital Systems.
The Richardson and Multispecialty Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics provide both general and specialized behavioral health treatment to a wide variety of patients. Primary patient presentations include depression, anxiety, OCD, adult autism, addiction, and complications of medical comorbidities, which are common in our patients given their tendency to be referred from within our medical system, which is largely comprised of specialty-level care. We are seeking a clinician to provide care in both locations (approximately half time in the Richardson location and half time at the main campus location) across a spectrum of presentations, with specializations to be developed based on both the psychologist's experience and interest as well as the needs of the clinic. Highly competitive candidates will have experience in referencing and utilizing evidence-based therapies to treat a variety of diagnoses including those noted above. In addition to the primary responsibility of providing outpatient therapy, the position also may involve some intake/evaluation, as needed within the clinic. Additionally, faculty are able to work remotely for a portion of their time though this is subject to clinical needs and continued feasibility of billing for remote telehealth services.
This faculty position includes opportunities for supervision of psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and participation in the overall academic mission of the department. Involvement in research is encouraged, and many opportunities exist for collaborative research and involvement in our APA accredited doctoral and internship programs in Clinical Psychology.
Eligible candidates must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program and internship. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre- requisite for starting in the position. It is expected that the individual will possess or seek ABPP status early after their appointment. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
Compliance with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate enforced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is a requirement for this position. Federal law requires individuals holding this position to be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for certain medical, disability, or religious reasons. Individuals who do not meet CMS vaccination requirements are not eligible and should not apply for this position but are encouraged to apply for other non- healthcare positions at UT Southwestern for which they qualify.
