Position Summary

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine at Chapel Hill is seeking a psychiatrist to join the Consultation-Liaison (CL) Service. The major expectations for this position will be the direct provision of patient care (inpatient consultation and outpatient clinics) at UNC Hospitals (UNC Medical Center and UNC Hillsborough Hospital). This position will also include some time providing direct patient care in our expanding virtual care program that may include a variety of patient care settings (including outpatient psychiatry, emergency room psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry), which can be tailored for the clinical interests of the faculty member. Additional duties include the supervision and teaching of CL psychiatry fellows, psychiatry residents, medical students, and other health care trainees who rotate on the CL service. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants for CL psychiatry positions must have an MD or equivalent degree. They should be fellowship trained and must be BC/BE in psychiatry. Applicants must be eligible for North Carolina licensure.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

The successful candidate should have strong clinical skills, a record of teaching excellence, and evidence of effective leadership and demonstrated ability to promote a collegial environment that fosters ongoing collaboration.
