Appointment Status Non-Tenure Track Department IUPUI Department of Psychology – School of Science Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis is seeking applications for a full-time (12-month) non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position with an anticipated start date of June 1, 2022. The primary responsibility of this position is to be the founding director of the IUPUI Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic to be housed in the Department of Psychology at IUPUI. The position will be appointed within the Psychology Department and will be considered a core member of the Clinical Psychology program faculty.

Primary responsibilities of the position include training and directly supervising first-time practicum trainees, supervising the assistant director of the clinic (graduate student position), providing didactic instruction, evaluating students' developing clinical competencies, and contributing to the research, teaching, and clinical missions of the program. Services to be supervised include adult individual and group therapy services, as well as broad assessments, including learning disabilities, ADHD, and diagnostic assessments. The primary clientele of the center will be undergraduate students at IUPUI; however, expansion to community clients, including children, may be possible. The successful candidate will have training in a variety of empirically supported treatments, providing supervision, documenting and assessing effectiveness of treatment, administrative duties within a clinical setting, and assessment and report writing. As is fitting for a Founding Director position, the Director will be able to develop the guidelines and policies for the new clinic in a way that best supports the success of the clinic, the care provided to the students at IUPUI, and the training of our graduate trainees. Additionally, the Director will be an active participant in assessing the clinic's effectiveness and working with department, school, and campus administration for development and expansion of the clinic.

The PhD in Clinical Psychology is a Purdue University degree offered in the Department of Psychology on the IUPUI Campus. It is an American Psychological Association (APA) – accredited Clinical Psychology PhD program. The PhD in Clinical Psychology prepares students for careers as researchers, educators, direct service providers, and administrators. Although the program provides strong clinical training, we align with a Clinical Science model, with primary emphasis on the methods of behavioral science, along with unusually rich opportunities for research and training. Clinical-track faculty are full members of the faculty and are expected to demonstrate excellence in the areas of teaching, clinical practice, and service for promotion. Although there is no expectation that the candidate will develop an independent program of research, preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in integrating research in our emphasis areas into the clinical setting.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree (i.e., PhD, PsyD) and training in clinical psychology or a closely related field (e.g., counseling psychology). The successful candidate must be licensed by the State of Indiana and credentialed as a Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP) or must be prepared to acquire these credentials as a condition of employment.

IUPUI is committed to being a welcoming campus community that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence. We seek candidates who will not only enhance our representational diversity but whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty. IUPUI condemns racism in all its forms and has taken an anti-racist stance that moves beyond mere statements to interrogating its policies, procedures, and practices. We hope to identify individuals who will assist in our mission to dismantle racism so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed at IUPUI.
