This position is a full-time clinical fixed term faculty member who will be
involved with both clinical and research activities of the UNC Department of
Psychiatry – Child and Adolescent Division. The Psychiatry Department has a
need to develop a robust research and clinical program for children and
adolescents with Attention Deficit and Related Disorders.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong history of research in the
field of attention and emotional regulation with a clearly demonstrated area
of expertise in attentional disorders in children which will serve as the
clinical and research foundation for this position. The UNC Department of
Psychiatry is a dedicated teaching department in the School of Medicine,
candidates should demonstrate commitment and a history to a role as a teaching
faculty. The position will include a percentage of time in the direct
provision of patient care. The candidate will provide clinical care in the
form of assessments and therapy to children in the department, as group
behavioral parent training and academic skills training are critical
components to the clinical services provided, experience with these are
required. The successful applicant will develop outreach to children and
parents. Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities is
preferred including cognitive and adaptive assessment. Further opportunities
include supervision of psychology interns and teaching of fellows in
psychiatry, medical students, residents, and allied health professionals, and
conducting professional lectures and training seminars. Intervention in youth
with ADHD and co-occurring psychiatric disorders, including behavioral parent
training, parent-child interaction therapy, and treatments that specifically
target challenges with emotion regulation are strongly preferred. A percentage
of the position will involve implementation of quality improvement measures
and presentation of this data in a variety of healthcare settings.
Qualified applicants are those who have completed a Ph.D. in clinical
psychology, and who are licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina.
Completion of an American Psychological Association (APA) approved
internship in child and adolescent behavioral health is required. At least one
year of postdoctoral experience is an additional requirement.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience with neuropsychological testing preferred. Experience in the
development and implementation of education and service in a children's
hospital or interdisciplinary setting expected. A strong record of scholarly
activity in the field of attentional disorders is required.
