Job Summary

The Department of Counseling and Graduate Education in the School of Education at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) invites applications for a clinical- track position at the Assistant Professor level to serve as Program Director of Graduate Education beginning August 2023. In addition to serving as Program Director of Graduate Education, the successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate education courses (online and hybrid), advise students, engage in action research or creative endeavor, and provide service to the university, community, and the education profession.

Graduate Education Program

Graduate Education programs include Master's degree specializations in Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education, as well as three Transition to Teaching programs that provide non-degree programs of study preparing career professionals with bachelor's degrees to earn an initial teaching license in either Elementary (K-6), Secondary (5-12), or Special Education (P-12). Graduate students enrolled in Transition to Teaching may apply coursework toward a Master's degree within the same area of specialization.

Requirements

The successful candidate must possess an earned doctorate in education with a minimum of three years' teaching experience in K-12 public schools. Prioritization will be given to candidates with prior teacher education preparation experience and evidence of effective teaching in the areas of curriculum and instruction and/or literacy. Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence in online, hybrid, and/or in- person learning environments and possess an accomplished record of service to the teaching profession. A commitment to innovative solutions to challenges currently experienced by school districts in recruiting and selecting highly qualified educators and a desire to form strong, collaborative partnerships with area schools is an expectation of the position.

Earned doctorate in Education with a minimum of five years' teaching experience in a K-12 public school. Candidates who are ABD will be considered with the expectation that the doctoral degree be awarded before the start of employment.
