The Indiana University School of Education at Indianapolis (IUPUI) is seeking an exemplary Assistant or Associate Clinical faculty member to contribute to our progressive urban Teacher Education program. This position also includes the role as Program Coordinator for Special Education programs. All candidates in teacher education at IUPUI are required to take integrated special education coursework. Many undergraduates seek dual certification in general and special education. We also offer graduate special education certification and a master's degree in Special Education. A doctoral minor in Critical Disability Studies is in development.

The School of Education at IUPUI is an urban serving institution located in the heart of Indianapolis. Our School of Education has approximately 30 full time faculty all of whom are actively engaged in teaching, scholarship of teaching, and research focused on urban education. Many of our faculty have scholarship interests that focus on social justice and anti-racist practices, partnerships with urban communities and schools, and critical perspectives in education. Duties: • Teach special education courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Elementary or Secondary Teacher Education. • Provide instructional coaching to dual licensure (general and special education) preservice teachers in inclusive urban school settings. • Engage in the scholarship of teaching. • Serve as Program Coordinator of Special Education Programs. This role includes reviewing applications, advising students, scheduling courses and instructors, coordinating student teaching placements, coordinating benchmark assessments, coordinating accreditation assessments, and organizing team meetings. • Provide service to School and university committees, professional organizations, and the community.

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications: • Doctorate in Special and/or Inclusive Education or related area, such as Disability Studies in Education. • Professional teaching experience in urban K-12 schools. • Curricular and instructional expertise in Universal Design for Learning, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, and other asset pedagogies. • Demonstrated excellence in university teaching, including scholarship of teaching. • Record of positive impact with youth in urban schools, universities, and/or communities.
