Position Details The Clerkship Director, Family Medicine, is responsible for overseeing the clinical education of medical students in their respective clerkship as part of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship. The Clerkship Director is responsible for building and fostering a positive and inclusive academic and team-based learning environment for the TCU and UNTHSC medical students. The Clerkship Director assures the availability and comparability of educational experiences and equivalency of student assessment and feedback across all Clerkship Sites, and collaborates with SOM leadership to ensure vertical integration of the curriculum across the continuum of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship.

Duties and Essential Job Functions: 1. Works as part of team with the other clerkship directors and senior director to create the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship experience; 2. Develops clerkship curriculum and teaching materials including the course syllabus, including objectives and clerkship specific requirements; 3. Collaborates with Clinical Clerkship sites and preceptors to create clinical education experiences that add value to student learning and competency; 4. Evaluates clerkship teaching faculty and teaching sites; 5. Recruits, develops, and retains faculty preceptors and clerkship teaching sites for all 60 medical students; 6. Provides independent supervision and oversight of the clerkship program faculty and implementation of teaching program; 7. Assists in the development of the community of phase 1, 2 and 3 LIC preceptors; 8. Coordinates teaching schedules for clerkship didactics and matches students to clerkship sites; 9. Develops and delivers clerkship didactic sessions (LeAPs); 10. Participates in the assessment process, determines students' grades, and completes final grade forms including narrative assessment within timelines set by the Assessment and Evaluation Office; 11. Collaborates with Phase 1 LIC and Phase 3 LIC Course Directors in development and maintenance of community of preceptors; 12. Conducts workshops, seminars and courses for medical students, trainees, and faculty; 13. Participates in clinical duties in their specialty, including precepting medical students; 14. Serves on School of Medicine curricular committees as assigned; 15. Evaluates all aspects of the clerkship and recommends and implements changes as appropriate; 16. Performs additional duties as assigned, as advised by the Department Chair, LIC Senior Director, or other senior faculty members of administration.

Required Education and Experience: • MD or DO degree (or equivalent) • Must qualify for Assistant Professor rank or higher at the UNTHSC/TCU School of Medicine • Evidence of effective teaching of learners in a clinical and/or didactic setting. Preferred Education and Experience: • Experience as a clerkship director in a medical school • Understanding of educational pedagogy as it relates to the clinical sciences • Experience developing medical school clinical courses • Experience managing professionals in a complex organization • Experience in management of multiple initiatives and multiple sites • Experience with LCME and/or other accrediting bodies • Experience working with diverse students or diverse populations Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: • Physicians with active clinical practice must have an unrestricted license to practice medicine; • Physicians with active clinical practice must have current ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) • Certification in area of Family Medicine and/or ABMS Family Medicine subspecialties.

School/College Description The TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine, Fort Worth's M.D. school, opened with a class of 60 students in July 2019. TCU and UNTHSC joined together in July 2015 to form this new allopathic medical school.
