    We are looking to recruit a part time cleaning operative to work at Scholars Green halls of residences, Monday – Friday (with occasional weekends as required).

    The post holder will be required to achieve and maintain exemplary standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the University's Halls of Residences to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service including a clinical clean in the relevant areas.

    Main duties of the posts at Waterside campus will be;

  • Cleaning stairwells, student's bedrooms, en-suites, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens and all communal areas within the buildings as directed.
  • Throughout the summer deep cleans take place after the students have vacated in readiness for our summer schools and conferencing. This consists of making up beds and supplying kitchen items, after this we then prepare for our September intake of students.
  • Maintaining sufficient supplies of cleaning materials and consumables.
  • Taking responsibility for the safe keeping of keys.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients and staff and to act in a polite and professional manner.
  • University of Northampton is an accredited training member of BICSc institute, a desired but not an essential requirement for this role. We will provide full training for all successful applicants. You may already have a current BICSc qualification and a track record of working within the cleaning industry and this would be a good opportunity to develop further to national certifications on all 4 levels of BICSc LTP foundation, level 1, level 2 and level 3.

    We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage. In recognition of this the salary for this post has been increased to pay the higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 2 salary before living wage which is £20,619 per annum.

    About you

    The ideal candidate will;

  • Work accurately and safely
  • Have experience in cleaning tasks
  • Have experience of working in occupied buildings understanding the need not to cause disruption
  • Demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a standard appropriate to post
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Work with minimal supervision and on own initiative, either in a team or alone
  • Be adaptable, conscientious and to be good team member
  • Be able to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands
  • Understanding COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health and Safety Regulations), Health and Safety and Manual Handling.
  • Qualifications

    Desirable;

  • BICS Operators Proficiency Certificate Stage 1 or willing to work towards qualification
