A Level 2 classroom teacher works directly with the Primary Classroom Teacher and Associate Director in the running of the classroom and assists in supervising the assistant and student teachers. Fills in as Primary Teacher in the event of Primary Teacher absence. Could be primary teacher if experienced with toddlers.

Essential Duties Summary

Responsible for teaching toddler class: Work with Primary Teacher in supervision of teaching team- assistant teachers, undergraduate and graduate student teachers, and HS interns. Work with Primary Teacher and Associate Director on curriculum to meet individual needs of children, including developmental delays; identifying and developing plans to meet special needs. Work with Primary Teacher on documentation of child observation, including supervision of assistant teachers' observation records; assist in developing full observation narratives for each child based on daily records. Communication with parents as needed; formal conferences with parents in collaboration with Primary Teacher. Incorporate digital technologies, including zoom, video documentation and photos, as needed.

2. Work with Primary Teacher on administrative duties including: Protocols necessary for licensure, including attendance and fire safety. Ordering of classroom supplies/materials, and maintenance of classroom. Letters of recommendation for toddlers and student teachers Participating in required workshops and conferences for DOH licensure.

3. Research Duties: Participate in research protocols, which may include completing questionnaires, assisting with toddler research paradigms, recording specific observations, and collecting research forms from parents

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Demonstrated ability to work on a team and with students, parents and other teachers. -Ability to understand the emotional and needs of young children -Strong communication and writing skills -Ability to supervise and take part in reflective supervision process. -Strong desire to continue growth in the field of early childhood education -Flexibility and ability to juggle multiple tasks, including prioritizing tasks work with children and parents.

Required Qualification Summary

B.A. in Psychology, Education, or related field and 8 credits or more towards M.A. degree in education, child development, psychology or related field.

Minimum of 3 years experience working with young children; at least 1 year with toddlers Strong communication skills

Ability to work on team and with students, parents and the public

Knowledge of zoom, digital recording, or willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualification Summary Physical Demands Summary

•High activity level •Ability to lift child up to 50 pounds •Repeated movements from sitting to standing up; bending down to child level
