Job overview

University Hospital Southampton is looking to recruit a Part time Christian chaplain to join the Spiritual Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-faith team that provides spiritual, emotional and religious care to patients, their relatives and friends, and staff at UHS.

About the team

You will be joining a well-established, friendly, and supportive team. You will be an excellent team player, committed to teamwork with an ability to work on your own initiatives. You will receive ongoing training and supervision.

Main duties of the job WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will deliver appropriate spiritual, pastoral, and religious care to those of any faith and none in a manner consistent with their culture, background, and values. The spiritual care service runs 7 days a week with additional on call hours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Applicants should be ordained or be able to demonstrate equivalent vocational training and faith accreditation. The successful candidate will have an interest and good understanding of developments in contemporary spirituality. The successful applicant should be pastorally open to the spiritual and emotional needs of people from diverse backgrounds and faith denominations.

The successful candidate will have to work independently so some previous pastoral experience is desired. We are looking for someone who understands the complexities of working within a team and will enjoy the challenges of chaplaincy in an acute hospital setting. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a specialist role whilst developing professionally.

Please be advised that this vacancy may close earlier than stated if we receive a large number of applications. We will not accept any applications or queries via agencies, under any circumstances.
