    We are looking for a highly motivated nurse with clinical skills and experience in children's acute pain management. Team leadership skills are essential. You'll need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work towards managing your own workload autonomously.

    Southampton Children's hospital is a 115 bedded hospital. It is a tertiary referral centre and the Major Paediatric Trauma Centre for the region, providing specialist intensive and high dependency care. You therefore will have the exciting opportunity to manage the pain of children and young people of varying ages and with a range of conditions.

    The Acute Pain Service is a nurse led service, 07.30-18.00, Monday - Friday, covering Children/young people in all specialities. The service is supported by Consultant Anaesthetists who have specialist training in Childrens acute pain management.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities Your Responsibilities What you'll do
  • You will be part of a nurse-led service managing children/young adults receiving pain management interventions within an acute setting.
  • Practicing autonomously as a core member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide specialist advice, education and support to children/young adults, parents/carers and health care professionals.
  • Actively undertake clinical audits and research within the Paediatric Pain Management Service.
  • What we're looking for

    An experienced nurse in clinical practice with leadership experience, including management skills. Able to work a flexible pattern, Monday – Friday. Have a willingness to work towards enhancing those skills by completing a non - medical prescribing qualification.
