Summary of Role
At Church of the Resurrection, the faith and spiritual formation of our
children is one of our highest priorities. We firmly believe that our youngest
members should not merely be supervised, but rather should receive the full
service, care, and attention afforded to all those in the community of faith.
As a church family, we take this to be a serious and joyful responsibility,
striving to create an environment that is Gospel-centered, theologically-rich,
a whole lot of fun, and always safe. The position of Children's Minister
serves as the critical leadership role to this end, equipping children (and
their parents) to become and to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities:
•Spiritual Formation
Develop philosophy of Children's Ministry with Staff & Session;
communicate philosophy of Children's Ministry to children, parents, and
congregation as a whole.
Prepare engaging and doctrinally-sound Sunday morning curriculum for
various age groups, including confirmation classes for older children.
Gather resources to educate parents on parenting, teaching, and
understanding children.
•Event/Program Planning & Oversight
Direct the planning and implementation of all Children's Ministry programs
and events. Serve as primary greeter welcoming parents and children
downstairs (9:30–10:00).
Oversee Children's Ministry volunteers and paid workers:
Communicate lesson plan & schedule on weekly basis.
Preserve appropriate adult/child ratios.
Maintain schedule and substitutions.
Identify and train new volunteers and workers.
Facilitate check-in, background checks, and safety measures.
Coordinate set-up, tear-down, and storage.
Oversee organization and cleanliness of all Children's Ministry
operations. Creatively develop branding and signage, at church and online.
Maintain supply levels.
Substitute teach as needed.
Organize Children's Church for special events (similar responsibilities
to those listed above).
• Outreach
Consistently interact with children and parents, getting to know them and
assessing needs to provide relevant ministries.
Establish connection with new visiting parents.
Develop strategy for reaching new families in neighborhoods, schools,
teams, etc.
Plan ways for children and parents to serve surrounding community.
•Ongoing Projects
Send out monthly newsletter outlining ministry calendar, curriculum, and
opportunities.
Develop ‘Advisory Board' of parents to collaborate on direction and
operations of the Children's Ministry.
Construct a ‘Welcome Package' given to new attending families.
Create summer opportunities (e.g., VBS) with staff and congregation.
Review and implement changes to policies and procedures.
Periodically give updates during announcements.
Pay & Benefits
Full Time
Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000
Health Insurance & Reimbursable Professional Expenses
Year-end Bonus
Time Off: 4 weeks vacation
A less-than-full time position may be negotiated.
Work from home is welcome, but personal office will be provided if
desired.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
• Faith
First and foremost, this position must be held by someone with an enduring
love of Christ and His Church, expressed through an active, practicing faith.
• Other
A strong call to disciple families towards life-long relationships with
Jesus.
An abiding love for children.
A degree in Childhood Education or 3+ years experience in children or
youth discipleship.
Church membership, including agreement with Resurrection's values and core
beliefs.
Faithful attendance in Sunday morning worship and church-wide events.
Attend weekly staff-meetings.
