Rutgers Cancer Institute seeks a nationally recognized research-focused
pathologist to serve as the Chief of Cancer Pathology at Rutgers Cancer
Institute and the Chief of Surgical Pathology at the Rutgers Robert Wood
Johnson Medical School. The Chief will also serve as the Director of the
Biorepository and Histopathology Service and Chief of Cancer Pathology
Services at RWJUH. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring high quality
surgical and tissue pathology services for patients undergoing evaluation for
the prevention or treatment of cancer or related conditions. The incumbent
will create policy and processes that effectively enhance collaboration and
liaison between the various clinical/translational laboratories and the
diverse clinical programs that utilize pathology test results. As Director of
the BRHS the incumbent will be responsible for policy and processed to ensure
robust procurement and appropriate storage of biospecimens and performing
analytical procedures as appropriate to support the mission of the cancer
The Chief provides oversight for all operational and programmatic aspects for
the Division and is responsible for oversight of the clinical and research
activities, and mentorship of the researchers/providers assigned. The Director
of BRHS is responsible for the overall operation of BRHS shared resource,
including operations for the consenting of patients to CINJ banking protocol
and other research studies, the targeted collection & distribution of
biospecimens for IRB-approved research studies, PBMC isolation, and standard
histology assays. More specialized services such as the PDL1-22C3 PharmDx
assay and patient-derived organoids are also offered. The Director is
responsible for maintaining the laboratory's operations according to its CAP
and CLIA certifications.
The academic appointment will be in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory
Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with a resident faculty
appointment at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Faculty at the
Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School have the opportunity to engage in
exciting teaching and mentorship activities for junior faculty and graduate
students. Faculty rank and salary is commensurate with experience.
The Division Chief will work under the direction of the Cancer Institute
Director on mutually agreed upon areas and serve as the liaison to Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital and the RWJBH Oncology Service Line.

Minimum Education and Experience
MD and/or PhD degree required.
Active researcher with the leadership skills and energy to integrate well
with existing multidisciplinary Cancer Programs.
