Characterisation Of The Acid-Base Properties Of Metal Oxy-Hydroxy-Fluorides (H/F)

Universities and Institutes of France

October 10, 2022

  • Organisation/Company: CNRS
  • Research Field: Chemistry Physics
  • Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2)
  • Application Deadline: 10/10/2022 23:59 - Europe/Brussels
  • Location: France › PARIS 05
  • Type Of Contract: Temporary
  • Job Status: Full-time
  • Hours Per Week: 35
  • Offer Starting Date: 02/01/2023
  • The post-doctoral researcher (with less than 2 years experience after obtaining the thesis) will contribute to different aspects of the project: - characterisation of the synthesised fluorinated materials by adsorption of probe molecules followed by infrared spectroscopy, - the achievement of catalytic tests in gas phase followed by analysis of the reaction products by GPC, - the presentation of the results obtained during the project progress meetings, at conferences and by writing progress reports and scientific articles.

At the CNRS, within the LRS (Sorbonne University - Paris), the post-doctoral researcher will have the task of characterising the acidity and basicity of metallic oxy(hydroxy)fluoride materials by adsorption of probe molecules followed by IR spectroscopy and through model catalytic reactions in gas phase

The Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface (LRS, UMR 7197) is a joint research unit (UMR) of Sorbonne Université - Faculté des Sciences et Ingénierie and the CNRS (INC) in the field of chemistry. The Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface was created almost 40 years ago by Professor Michel CHE. It comprises 33 researchers and teacher-researchers, 12 permanent technical and administrative staff, and around 20 non-permanent staff. The LRS has developed a scientific policy around surface chemistry in the fields of catalysis and catalyst preparation, biointerfaces and electrochemistry. https:// www. In the framework of the ANR project "Inorganic Fluorides-Hydroxides-Oxides nanomaterials as a new family of tunable and selective Basic Catalysts (FluHOMat; https: //", oxy-hydroxy-metal fluoride nanomaterials are synthesised in order to obtain a family of materials whose acid-base character can be tuned according to the F/OH ratio Xu et al, Catal. Sci. Technol. 2019, 9, 5793 but also by playing on the nature of the metal. This project is the result of a collaboration between the Institut de Chimie des Milieux et Matériaux de Poitiers (IC2MP), the Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux (ICMCB) and the Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface (LRS, Paris). Within this consortium, the major role of the LRS is to characterise the acid-base properties of materials synthesised by IC2MP and ICMCB. The objective is to identify the key parameters of the different synthesis routes that allow the adjustment of the acid-base of the materials and thus the catalytic activity for conversion reactions of oxygenated molecules (derived from biomass). To this end, the acidity and basicity of the materials will be characterised by adsorption of CO at low temperature Hadjiivanov et al., Adv. Catal., 2002, 47, 307 and propyne C. Chizallet et al., Catal. Today, 2006, 116, 196 at room temperature, followed by infrared spectroscopy. These measurements will be complemented by catalytic activity measurements for alcohol conversion reactions (2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol and isopropanol) which are model reactions widely used to evaluate the acidity or basicity of catalytic materials Lauron-Pernot, Catal. Rev., 2006, 48, 315. The post-doctoral researcher will be under the responsibility of Professor Hélène LAURON-PERNOT, scientific leader of the project within the LRS.

    Eligibility criteria

    - Characterisation of catalytic materials by adsorption of probe molecules followed by different techniques. Specific skills in infrared spectroscopy measurements would be appreciated. - Study of the catalytic activity of materials (gas phase catalysis; analysis of reaction products by gas chromatography). - Autonomy in the implementation of experiments and their exploitation. - Good ability to oral presentations as well as to write progress reports and publications.
