  • About This Opportunity

    We are currently seeking the expertise of a passionate and motivated Change Manager to take ownership of Change Strategy and Change Services in our IT Governance team within Information Technology Services here at UQ!

    UQ is on an exciting digitisation transformation journey and process maturity uplift and requires a Change Manager to focus on Change Strategy and Services to establish and maintain governance of change management across the IT function, and effective engagement between ITS and its stakeholders.

    As the Change Manager, Change Strategy and Services, you will ensure that change impacts are understood, appropriate change management resourcing recommendations are provided to projects, change is supported and that business processes are effectively embedded. You will provide leadership and advice to change managers assigned to specific projects/programs and you will also have a pivotal role in communicating and embedding the University's Technology Master Plan and associated governance processes. You will provide effective change services to support our virtual environment.

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Change Management Governance and Maturity Uplift
  • Provide leadership and governance of change management activities related to projects/programs in the virtual environment across UQ.

  • Identify opportunities to increase the maturity of change management within the virtual environment and implement practical measures that align with UQ's IT change management and project management frameworks to achieve this.

  • Develop and maintain meaningful project/program change management assurance and reporting, including appropriate change success metrics.

  • Maintain the change management framework, the community of practice and templates for projects in the virtual environment.

  • Provide support and coaching to IT project managers, change managers and project/program stakeholders, to enhance change management and communications capability across the IT function.

  • Develop and manage change-related governance material including plans and other project supporting documentation.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, IT PMO (Portfolio Management Office) to develop and implement approaches to support handover to business-as-usual, sustainability of the change, benefit realisation planning and post implementation reviews.

  • Strategic Change Management - Technology Master Plan
  • Manage the change associated with embedding the Technology Master Plan.

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders from across the IT function and the broader University to embed Technology Master Plan and the governing frameworks for investment planning, prioritisation and decision making in the virtual environment.

  • IT Project Change Management
  • In partnership with project/program leads and key stakeholders, evaluate change impact and implications to support project/program success.

  • Undertake analysis and make recommendations regarding the appropriate change management strategy/methodology and resource requirements, commensurate with the size and complexity of the activity.

  • For projects and initiatives that do not have a dedicated change resource, assist project managers as appropriate, by applying a structured change management approach and methodology including:

  • Assessing the change impact and completing relevant change management assessments.

  • Developing a change management strategy.

  • Identifying areas of anticipated resistance and implementing appropriate management activities.

  • Evaluating user readiness and undertaking appropriate actions to ensure user support for the change.

  • Integrating change management activities into the overall project plan.

  • Developing project change collateral and maintaining a framework for communication.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Change Communications
  • Support the Principal, Internal Communications to develop and maintain an engagement plan for the ITS division and ensure appropriate and high- quality communication with stakeholders across the University, including through developing reusable marketing and communications collateral.

  • Identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, project/program leads and those most impacted by change activity related to the virtual environment.

  • This is a full-time continuing (permanent) position.

    At HEW level 8 , the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $105,338.31 to $118,280.70, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $123,245.82 to $138,388.42 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases.

    About You

    The successful candidate will be a motivated and experienced IT Change Manager with a wealth of knowledge across best practice change management approaches. Further criteria include:

    Essential
  • Qualifications and training equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in organisational change, project management, communications or a related field, or significant progress towards such qualifications, and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Extensive knowledge of best practice change management approaches.

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in successfully designing and delivering strategic IT change within a large, complex organisation, including a solid understanding of people and process issues in implementing new business processes and resource changes across an organisation.

  • Experience in consulting, partnering with and coaching senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver change outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to present concepts credibly, thoughtfully and persuasively and an ability to consider and reconcile diverse ideas and views through negotiation.

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading the development of change communications, including the development of key messages and effective dissemination to diverse audiences using a variety of communication channels.

  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to engage others and generate enthusiasm around new ideas and new ways of working.

  • Ability to prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated commitment to delivery of outcomes, and a self-motivated, positive and enthusiastic approach to achieving goals through effective team and individual work.

  • Broad awareness of information technology sufficient to liaise effectively with technical stakeholders and to analyse and communicate change impacts associated with IT projects.

  • Experience in the effective use of a wide range of computer applications in a network environment (particularly Microsoft Office, O365, Adobe products including InDesign, collaboration tools including Teams, Zoom and Confluence) or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.

  • Desirable
  • Demonstrated ability in the change management of large-scale IT projects, including a well-developed understanding of change management principles and techniques.

  • Experience delivering change management awareness sessions or training.

  • Experience working in the higher education sector.

  • Prosci certification.
