Job Summary

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applications for a full-time 12-month position as Department Chair. Appointment will be made at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. We are looking for a candidate who can lead faculty in a rigorous educational and clinical program. The anticipated start date for this position will be July 1, 2023.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the department and managing all relevant administrative duties.
  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Supporting the research mission of the department.
  • Contributing to departmental and university service including but not limited to academic advising of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Qualifications

    Required qualifications include:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, or a related field.
  • Evidence of leadership experience in academia.
  • Experience with undergraduate and graduate curricula.
  • Expertise in any area of speech-language pathology or audiology.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and a strong record of service to the field or profession.
  • Teaching, Research, and Service accomplishments commensurate with rank at the associate professor or professor level.
  • The position is contingent upon available funding and a satisfactory background check.

    The Department

    The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is part of the College of Science, and offers a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and a Gerontology certificate. The first cohort of graduate students started in Fall 2020. The department manages an on-campus Communication Disorders Clinic. The department currently includes seven full-time and three part-time faculty members. Graduate class sizes are typically 15 students and undergraduate classes usually range from 20-40 students.
