Position Summary:

CH110(D) and CH120(D) are taught concurrently and share the same lecture.

This course is designed to be a first university-level course in chemistry. This course, followed by CH111, prepares students for further studies in all subdisciplines of chemistry as well as laying the chemical foundations for studies in related disciplines such as biology, physics, geography, anthropology and psychology. Topics covered include stoichiometry, gas laws, thermochemistry, models of the atom, trends in the periodic table, chemical bonding, 3-D structure of molecules, introduction to organic chemistry and reactions.

Qualifications – Required: Master's Degree Chemistry, Biochemistry or cognate discipline (see ‘Other' for further qualifications)

Qualifications – Other: (i) PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline or (ii) a Master's Degree plus PhD in progress in these disciplines along with a Laurier University Teaching Certificate (or equivalent recognized teaching credential) and experience in the posted or substantially similar course) or (iii) an Masters Degree plus M.Ed. and experience in the posted or substantially similar course.
