The Central Operations Director is responsible for managing Campus Stores, Mail Services, Contracts, Real Estate and Data Management units as well as coordination with University Information Technology staff. Management responsibilities include: ensuring that services are provided to the University community that are of high quality, effective, and in compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards; ensuring the success and effectiveness of Service Excellence efforts; establishing and implementing program guidelines, operating procedures and reporting systems; and determining staffing, equipment & capital needs.
This position is a member of Facilities Management Leadership and participates in strategic planning efforts for the entire department

Position Details
General Statement
The Central Operations Director will collaborate and lead efforts to support the University through broad administrative direction, achieve University goals and objectives, comply with state and federal laws and regulations, and maintain construction and maintenance industry standards. Actions are subject to guidance from top administration and the exercise of authority is limited only by the parameters established by the AVP of Facilities Management and MSU policies and procedures, State fiscal rules, and personnel policies. The position is responsible for developing and implementing organizational and operational changes necessary to attain objectives for areas of direction. The Director will work with other FM leadership to develop strategies, policies, and guidelines to enhance overall service levels.

Physical Demands
Position duties may require occasional investigation and inspection of facilities, systems, and equipment involving confined areas, manholes, vaults, tunnels, roofs, catwalks, and ladders. Position requires exposure to temperature extremes, noise, heights, energized utility systems, and chemical, biological, and radiological hazards. The position may require occasional travel.
