Position Information:

Anticipated Employment Dates: July 1, 2023 – May 31, 2024 (start date flexible)

Schedule: 20 hours per week -> Serve 15 hrs/week in office with additional 5 hrs dedicated to student org meetings/events. The exact start date and schedule will be determined by the supervisor and the selected candidate. Work Environment: Office setting, Occasional bending/lifting/twisting.

Pay: The hourly pay rate is $15/hr. and there are no benefits associated with this position.

Position Summary:

The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE) is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative graduate student to join their team. The CLCE Graduate Assistant will be immersed in hands-on experiences that focus on both academic and student affairs, as it relates to community engagement and service. The CLCE Graduate Assistant will be immersed in hands-on experiences that focus on both academic and student affairs, as it relates to community engagement and service. The Community Engagement, Graduate Assistant elevates the community engagement initiatives and service projects in both the Rollins Community and the larger Central Florida Community by taking an active role in all aspects of community care:

  • Serve as the Staff Advisor for the JUMP (Join Us in Making Progress) 5 – Minute Difference Program

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 5 Student Service Coordinators.
  • Assist in developing weekly 5-minute on-campus service projects including scheduling locations, ordering supplies, event set up & break down, etc.
  • Connect with Community Partners to identify need and capacity while building strong relationships as an ambassador of Rollins College to the local community.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with the Service Coordinators as a group and manage all communications and projects via Teams, Google Docs, etc.
  • Assess learning outcomes and program quality using Qualtrics.
  • Coordinate 2 Saturdays of Service per month
  • Connect with a diverse set of Community Partners to develop new and relevant service opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to participate in.
  • Lead pre- and post- reflections with attendees.
  • Provide transportation and on-site support for each project.
  • Lead the Rollins Relief Program
  • Remain up to date on current events impacting our local communities and beyond.
  • Craft campus-wide emails to inform the Rollins Community of current events and resources to help.
  • Assist in the coordination Immersion Post-Trip Service Opportunities.
  • Reach out to Immersion Community Partners to receive feedback on efficacy of service and impact.
  • Connect with local community partners to plan a reintroduction activity for each Immersion trip.
  • Support larger Community Engagement events and initiatives including, but not limited to:
  • #seniorSERVE
  • Community Partner Fair
  • SPARC Day & Spring SPARC
  • MLK Jr. Day of Service
  • SummerSERVE
  • IMPACT Student Conference
  • Assist students with their applications, review submissions, support student development in conference session delivery, complete registrations, and provide travel support.
  • Participate in one (1) professional development opportunity to attend.
  • Must attend before April 2024. The office will support $500 worth of conference fees, travel, and accommodations. A short proposal should include budget information as well as the purpose of the conference and what you plan to bring back to campus as a result.
  • General Office Responsibilities

  • Maintain Outlook Calendar and respond to emails in timely, professional manner

  • Serve as a mentor and resource to all students across campus
  • Represent CLCE at campus events i.e. first-year orientation, experience Rollins, etc.
  • Assist in supporting, advising, and supervising CLCE student employees
  • Track participant(s) for all events, initiatives, etc. in the CLCE Dashboard
  • Assess CLCE programming and complete grant reports
  • Familiarize yourself with CE Best Practices and Leadership Development theories
  • Become well-versed in the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals
  • Facilitate at least one immersion experience
  • Conduct and/or attend Community Partner site visit(s)
  • Attend all CLCE Team meetings and retreats (including student retreats)
  • Familiarize yourself with GivePulse & GetInvolved
  • Comfort driving a 15 Passenger Mini-Bus
  • Attend VPSA Trainings and Retreats
  • Attend “All Hands-on Deck” campus-wide events (may fall on evenings/weekends)
  • Maintain a professional office space and be mindful of shared spaces i.e. cleanliness
  • Effectively utilize Office 365, Adobe Creative programs, Teams, Canva, Foxlink, etc.
  • Minimum Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Pursuing a Masters degree in student personnel/student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to student involvement, have significant experience in working with diverse populations in a collegiate setting and demonstrate an understanding of student development theory.
  • Creative, self-motivated, self-driven, have a healthy regard for fostering community development, and a passion for working with students.
  • Possess a strong desire to work collaboratively with staff and faculty across campus, be willing to challenge themselves and others in intellectual growth and development,
  • Has a strong interest/experiences in leadership development, community engagement, and social justice
  • Possess strong facilitation skills and significant experience in leadership education and development.
  • Demonstrate skills in effective communication, supervision, program development with measured results.
  • Demonstrate competence in mentoring and advising.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain an Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and acceptable MVR are required.
  • Education Requirement:

    The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program in order to qualify for this position and must remain actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program for the duration of their employment in this position. This assistantship is intended for currently enrolled graduate students or individuals whose enrollment into a graduate degree program is imminent (E.g. student has been accepted into a graduate degree program and is awaiting the start classes in the immediate future). Incumbent should be seeking an experiential opportunity in their degree field which may or may not be a requirement for graduation.
