Position Overview

This position includes the following responsibilities:

• Reviewing student employment applications via Handshake, recruiting students in On-Campus Job fairs • Scheduling and conducting interviews, completing hiring paperwork and onboarding • Keeping track of students are in the hiring process • Scheduling and conducting new student employee orientations • Keeping paper & digital copies of employee records with the most updated information along with student class schedules and updating information in WhenToWork for each term and semester transitions • Managing weekly schedules through WhenToWork platform and sending out information • Daily supervision of WhenToWork messaging, time off requests, shift trade boards • Managing and sending out daily Event orders updates for the next day • Acquiring Verde Catering Menu and Food To Go knowledge • Assisting with Catertrax, order placing, and BEO updates • Answering phone calls and assisting with questions, orders, and messages • Completing opening duties consisting of sending out reminder emails and surveys through Catertrax • Assisting with catering events on the floor as needed in the capacity of Catering Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED equivalent and two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation, including one year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to direct and manage the work of others. • Ability to work from written menus, standard recipes and oral instructions. • Ability to maintain records and complete forms accurately. • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: checking orders for quantity). • Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing food on a large scale. • Considerable knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service, and knowledge of necessary precautionary measures. • Knowledge of food values and menu planning. • Ability to train personnel in the care and use of equipment and in standard practices and methods used in large-scale food service. • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Great work ethic. Outgoing personality. Some food & beverage knowledge preferred. Willing to train the right candidate.

Job Duties

o

Create weekly schedules with the help and supervision of DOC. Enter shifts into W2W according to the needs of the event. Report location to be communicated with schedules . Utilize W2W to ensure class schedules are followed

o

Assign shifts to the staff according to experience and ability. Maintain profeciency level charts with input from Catering Managers.

o

Update schedules to reflect changes and updates from clients and guest daily. Trade board and time off requests to be updated daily.

o

Coordinate, facilitate and conduct interviews for the department with the supervision of DOC. Maintain 20-20-40 guidelines.

o

Follow up and track applicant flow through the entire hiring process and ensure all steps are followed.

o

Maintain records for time aand attendance for staff. Follow standards as indicated. Facilitate adherence to the time, attendance, uniform and follow ups if violation occurs.

o

Conduct department orientation for all new hire. Emphasize department policies, procedures and standards.

o

Gather all pertnent details for each event by understanding different types of events. Ex. Breakfast, lunch, breaks, cook outs etc.

o

Be able to ask relevant questions through understanding of event types.These questions are to include but not limited to guests budgetary restraints, program needs and desired results from the guests perspective.

o

Have knowledge of the product availibility and where to source from and related question. Ask DOC's assistance as needed.

o

Be able to understand the menu and actively recommend food and beverage with the help of peers and in accordance with the department's policies and guidelines.

o

Know other elements needed to execute events. This includes but not limited to tables required, linens, centerpieces, rooms availibility, program agenda and other venue specific information.

o

Know the fine prints in Catretrax of policies in order to make correct recommendations to the guests and clients.

o

Be able to generate accurate BEO's based on information gathered.

o

Attend BEO's meeting, organize and update information provided in the BEO's, maintain BEO's folder. Send out daily BEO updates and SOS packet.

o

Solicit feedback as to the success of each event serviced.

o

Answer phone call s with professional salutaion and demeanor

o

Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
