As Catering Assistant, you will work on your own initiative to ensure the smooth running of the coffee room on a day-to-day basis, whilst maintaining a high standard of cleanliness within the café. You will also be responsible for making sure food hygiene practices are followed and that special orders are delivered for meetings and events when required. Daily activities will include:

  • Setting-up the coffee room each morning, ready to welcome staff, students and visitors
  • Preparing and serving hot drinks throughout the morning.

  • Loading and unloading the dishwasher and clearing the service area before you leave.

  • Handling small amounts of cash and totaling the amount taken each day ready for banking by the finance team.
  • Keeping a record of income and expenditure on a simple spreadsheet.
  • About you:

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will join us with:

  • The ability to provide a welcoming environment to all users of the coffee room.
  • Strong organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy in order to read instructions and complete order forms.

  • A reliable work ethic.
  • In addition to the base salary for this role, the University also offers employees a wide range of competitive benefits, from generous annual leave entitlements, health care cash plans, childcare schemes, cycle to work schemes and shopping discounts.
