About the role
The MGSE is seeking tutors to teach into the professional experience component
of the Master of Teaching and support pre-service teachers (Teacher
Candidates) to undertake supervised teaching placements in schools and early
learning settings across Victoria.
Tutors will make effective contributions to teaching and learning, engagement
and pastoral care. This will support Teacher Candidates on-site in placement
settings and on-campus. Specifically, Tutors will demonstrate expert content
and pedagogical knowledge as well as highly effective classroom teaching and
mentoring in clinical teaching practice.
A fundamental element of this position is the integration of theory and
practice. This supports pre-service teachers through the delivery of a
structured and progressive curriculum to develop their praxis of clinical
teaching (on-site in placement settings and on-campus).
In addition, you will:
Deliver highly effective teaching and mentoring in collaboration with the
Clinical Teaching Practice Coordinator and a team of tutors;
Observe Teacher Candidates' teaching in placement settings through face-
to-face and online engagement and provide feedback on teaching.
Collaborate with Mentor Teachers (based in the educational setting) to
conduct subject assessments and undertake marking and moderation to ensure
consistent and equitable assessment outcomes.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the theoretical framework of evidence-
based, interventionist clinical models of pedagogy and individualised
learning informing the MTeach program.
Tutor positions are available across all M Teach programs including Early
Childhood, Early Childhood and Primary, Primary, and Secondary. Applicants are
advised to clearly identify: the M teach program in which you are interested
in applying to; the academic teaching periods that correspond with your
availability (Semester 1 Feb-June or Semester 2 Jul-Nov); and the
number of Clinical Teaching Practice subjects you would like to tutor in.
