The UQ Faculty of Science is an internationally recognised provider of
education and research, home to some of the world's most innovative
scientists, teachers, science programs and commercial ventures and is one of
the largest science groupings in Australia.
Through its schools and centres, the Faculty unites the disciplines of
agriculture and animals, biomedical and biological sciences, chemistry, earth

The Office of the Director, Gatton Campus is responsible for ensuring the
smooth and effective operations of the Gatton Campus of The University of
Queensland, supporting academic teaching, research and community programs. The
Director's portfolio includes responsibility for the Gatton Dairy, Pig Unit,
Equine Unit, Cropping and Crop Research Units, Grazing Animal Unit, UQ Skills
and the Halls of Residence in addition to administration functions and OH&S.

About This Opportunity
The Animal Control and Regulation Trainer and Assessor will primarily train
cohorts of students in a workshop format throughout the year, facilitate and
support online learning and students as required at UQ Skills.
The focus areas we are seeking experts for include,
General animal behaviour and control, health and infection control
State/Territory legislative knowledge and the animal care
Pound operations and management
Animal Investigations and compliance
This position is located at The University of Queensland's picturesque Gatton
Campus. Gatton Campus, UQ combines its Queensland Agricultural College
heritage with modern research and teaching facilities in agriculture,
agribusiness and veterinary science. Just over an hour's drive west of
Brisbane and five kilometres from the local township, the 1068-hectare Gatton
campus offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and world-class facilities
including the Queensland Animal Science Precinct, the UQ Veterinary Medical
Centre, Gatton Research Dairy, nursery and glasshouse facilities, the southern
hemisphere's largest PV solar array research facility, and a pesticide wind
tunnel facility. The campus also operates several commercial plant and animal
production units in rural technologies to support teaching, research and
Our Ideal Candidate
To be competitive for this role you will have a ACM40117 Certificate IV in
Animal Control and Regulation or similar, have comprehensive industry and
vocational educational training experience. A diploma and/or degree
qualification in Animal or wildlife Science is desirable but not essential.
It is expected those professionals in roles, such as Investigation, Animal
Health workers, Animal control, rangers and pound operations staff or
equivalent roles would be suitable candidates for this position.
A CIV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or TAE40110 with updates including
TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 is required. Industry experience and currency in
Animal Control and Regulation.
You will have a high level of written and interpersonal skills, be able to
manage a variety of classroom situations for a variety of student cohorts,
apply conflict resolution, be reliable, consistent and able to work
effectively both autonomously and in a team environment. Experience using
Learning Management Systems and Student Management Systems would be preferred.

This is a casual position at HEW level 5 – level 6.
Casually hourly rates will be in the range $46.79 - $57.34, depending on
experience, plus super of up to 9.5%.
