The University of Adelaide's English Language Centre seeks expression of interest for casual teachers/trainers in English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Expressions of interest are being sought from English Language teachers qualified and experienced in teacher training and the delivery of

  • General/Academic English Programs
  • Direct Entry Pathway Programs
  • English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI)/TESOL Trainers
  • Salary: (Casual ELT) $96.30 per hour, plus an employer contribution of 10% superannuation will apply.

    The English Language Centre provides a range of English and TESOL programs for international students and visiting groups.

    The English Language Teacher is responsible for delivering a range of English Language Centre (ELC) programs as required in accordance with the relevant curriculum objectives.

    Responsibilities include the identification of student needs and goals, and the organisation of student learning activities based on appropriate and relevant student-centred, flexible delivery methodologies, as well as the evaluation and assessment of student learning and the maintenance of high quality educational standards. The English Language Teacher/Trainer is to contribute to the provision of the program evaluations, administrative duties and the further development of curriculum, methodologies, and teaching resources.

    To be successful in this casual opportunity you will need:

  • At least 800 hours of experience in the teaching of English as an Additional Language (EAL) across a broad range of programs
  • High level computer literacy skills, including the development and practical application of learning technologies for the EAL classroom
  • Experience in teaching online using ZOOM and/or Microsoft Teams
  • English as a Medium of Instruction/TESOL Trainers only: TESOL/EMI teacher training experience
  • Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering hybrid/blended programs
  • Qualifications

    Possesses a degree or diploma of at least three years full-time or equivalent (teaching or other) plus the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) or the Certificate IV in TESOL

    OR

    Possesses a degree or diploma of at least three years full-time or equivalent (teaching or other) plus a post-graduate qualification in Education or a related field, including a TESOL component.

    Casual positions are available on a part-time or full-time sessional basis
