About - Department of Paediatrics (Royal Children's Hospital Academic Centre)

The Department of Paediatrics is the flagship representative of the University's partnership with the Royal Children's Hospital and is co-located with the hospital in Flemington Road, Parkville. The Department of Paediatrics is a large department within the School of Medicine. The Department has responsibility for the Child & Adolescent Health component of the Doctor of Medicine course of the School. There are 82 academic and professional staff, 447 honorary academic staff, and more than 150 students who are enrolled to pursue research degrees from Honours, Masters and PhD.

About the Role An excellent opportunity for a clinician to further their teaching expertise and knowledge while contributing to the development of future health care workers. CAH Coordinator/Lecturer will work with the Department of Paediatrics, academic teaching staff and administrators of the MD3 program to maintain academic governance and day-to-day running of the Child and Adolescent Health program for MD3 students. The CAH Coordinator will be based at the Royal Children's Hospital campus (RCH), working under the guidance of and reporting to the Child and Adolescent Health Lead Co-ordinator.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Department of Paediatrics and academic teaching staff and administrators of the MD3 program across all hospital sites delivering the CAH curriculum
  • Carrying out overall academic governance and day-to-day running of the Child and Adolescent Health Program
  • Leading development of Child and Adolescent Health written and oral assessments with attendance of Written Assessment Review Panel and Clinical Assessment Review Panel
  • Supporting an educational research agenda in the Department of Paediatrics (RCH Academic Centre) and its RCH Campus Partners
  • About You You will bring an appreciation of contemporary approaches to teaching and learning and educational evaluation in a tertiary education environment. You will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated excellent management and organisational skills.

    You will also have:

  • Postgraduate training in paediatrics (FRACP or equivalent) and previous teaching fellow experience
  • Medical registration in Australia (or eligible for medical registration in Australia)
  • Experience in clinical paediatrics practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching and learning practice, including assessment principles and methodologies
