We are looking for an experienced CAD Engineer to join our team of product developers and robot enthusiasts. Project background

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

Job description

As a CAD Engineer, you will be working with the PIONEERS in the product development and care group. Together we care for and bring our products forward. You will consult with our robot developers to keep our designs clean and maintainable, improve our design and production data and support the design of new product features and work instructions. In addition, you will closely collaborate with our colleagues in operations to ensure that our designs scale to build in ever larger numbers, with high reliability and yield. If you have a flair for form & function, a passion for maintaining clean and organized CAD data, as well as developing and managing templates and a library of standard parts, then this role is perfect for you.

You will:

  • Formulate design solutions for our robot products that are cost effective, robust and manufacturable
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians and other stakeholders to ensure that the product meets all the required specifications and industrial standards (ISO)
  • Shape and coach to adhere to CAD guidelines for our engineering teams
  • Maintaining and creating standard parts and CAD templates
  • Create designs and corresponding production data that enable scalable production with high reliability and yield
  • Exchange with suppliers and implementation of supplier feedback
  • Create and maintain assembly instructions and technical documentation to support our operations department in maintaining the production & quality documents
  • Your profile
  • Education as CAD designer (Konstrukteur/in EFZ) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years related working experience in an industrial environment
  • Experience in CAD and PDM environment
  • Ability to propose new design ideas and critically review existing designs
  • Experienced in using DIN/ISO tolerance norms for the technical documentation
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and in writing)
  • Curious and open-minded, with a passion for fact-based knowledge
  • People enabler, focused in supporting others and their efforts
  • Orderly and organized which keeps our CAD database clean
  • Bonus Points

  • Additional education that is relevant to the role (BSc or CAS)
  • Proven experience in applying poka-yoke or similar
  • Experience with SolidWorks (CAD and PDM)
  • Experience in working with an ERP system
  • Experience in prototyping (3D printing) and good hands-on skills
