About the position
Reporting to the Management Accountant, Business Partnering & Reporting, this
position provides a range of support and advice to various stakeholders in the
management of the University's financial performance. This includes the
coordination and production of timely and accurate reporting, maintaining
accurate financials, driving process improvements in the Finance team, being a
trusted advisor for financial, taxation & management issues, budgeting
support, general ledger account reconciliations, and helping maintain core
Finance system maintenance and integrity.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;
An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least
4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management
expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge,
training and/or experience.
At least 12 months experience with Power BI as a financial Business
Intelligence tool in a large organisation. A background which demonstrates
exposure to Power BI data modelling, dashboard development and
visualization to support financial performance.
At least 12 months experience acting as a Finance Business Partner to
support decision making in a large organisation. Experience reviewing bulk
financial data to identify risks and financial underperformance.
Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work
collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills with successful experience
in managing and leading staff to promote a cohesive and effective team and
managing workflows.
Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to
manage several different projects concurrently.
Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation or interpretation of data.
Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise
to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve
problems.
Ability to develop innovative methodologies or take a leading role in the
application of proven techniques involving considerable theoretical and
technical sophistication.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated
outcomes.
Ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate inclusivity and tailor
communication in a way that is meaningful to the audience – consistently
modelling accountability, connectedness, innovation and care.
Demonstrated creative and critical thinking, ability to generate ideas to
solve local problems and recommend improvements to current work practices.
Ability to make sense of data to inform decision making – implementing
ideas to improve local practices.
Ability to make sense of data to inform decision-making – building a
culture in which staff members actively contribute to the continuous
improvement of local practices
Proven strong experience in utilizing financial systems and tools
(including advanced level in Excel) to produce meaningful analysis and
reporting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that enable clear and
articulate presentation of complex information in a meaningful and useable
form, particularly in report writing and preparing and delivering
presentations.
