Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Gordon E. Inman College of Nursing Business and Budget Manager is
responsible for overseeing and managing the operations and budgetary needs of
the college. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient
allocation and utilization of financial resources to support the college's
strategic objectives and educational mission.
Supports the Dean directly in developing, maintaining, and forecasting the
budget needs of the CON.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, forecast potential financial
outcomes, and propose budget adjustments as necessary.
Provide financial planning and forecasting recommendations to support
strategic decision-making.
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, service providers, and
external partners to ensure favorable terms and cost-effectiveness.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and contractors to
support the college's operations.
Stays abreast of university-lead budget planning activities including
serving as liaison with Finance & Accounting and other academic budget
managers.
Prepares historic expense reports and expense forecasts.
Develops budget templates and establishes processes for scholarships,
travel, and other routine business operations and budget needs.
Prepares reports and analyses as requested, Reconciles monthly ; Banner
reports for current budgets and restricted funds: Researches discrepancies
and submit corrections to Accounting.
Facilitates travel arrangements for prospective faculty candidates,
visiting speakers, and faculty.
Develops and maintain supplemental accounting records as required in order
to respond to detailed periodic budget queries.
Keeps all purchasing assistants informed of the budget status.
Provides the Dean with regular reports on status of Operating, AEF, and
Restricted accounts. Manages the Accounts Payables/Receivables processes
for CON budgets and restricted accounts, including those set up for grants
and student club agency accounts.
Expedites purchase orders, check requests, interdepartmental transfers,
deposits, petty cash, and Belmont corporate credit cards.
Facilitates faculty/staff purchasing needs including facility
equipment/furniture ordering and installation, course and research
materials, special course and contracted teaching projects, AV equipment
for classrooms, etc.
Processes scholarship payments for Graduate and Undergraduate students.
Serves as primary CON contact for day-to-day billing and budget questions
with Finance & Accounting, Bookstore, UMPR, ITS, User Services,
Maintenance, Catering, and other related campus departments.
Maintains records according to university Finance & Accounting guidelines.
Coordinates computer and printer purchases for CON. Maintains inventory
records and revise as needed.
Manages CON payroll and Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) functions:
Prepares payroll for adjunct faculty for review by the Associate Dean of
Administration and approval by the Dean. Submits approved payroll to the
Office of the Provost.
Prepares payroll overloads, honorariums, and stipends for full time
faculty.
Prepares payroll for non-faculty, instruction support personnel.
Monitors student payroll budgets.
Serves as liaison between Payroll office and employees as needed.
Manages the FLAC process.
Processes PAFs through Belmont Be You for full-time faculty and staff,
part-time adjuncts, writing center tutors, and other part-time hires.
Recruits, trains student workers in clerical support.
Orients new faculty, staff, and student organization personnel on
university and CLASS payroll, and purchasing processes., Provides support
for all questions related to finances and payroll.

Must have computer proficiency in Excel including: building worksheets and
workbooks, using formula functions, formatting worksheets for formal
reports, creating charts, and creating and managing linked workbooks
Must be able to research and extract data in Banner Finance module.
Must have word processing proficiency to produce basic correspondence and
financial reports. Must be proficient with electronic mail to
communicate with internal and external contacts
Must be proficient with Internet to research purchase options.
Must be able to manage complex budget items in detail and with accuracy.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities with frequent
interruptions; must be flexible.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Must be able to work independently.
Must possess organizing and coordinating skills.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to troubleshoot basic computer problems
Must possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of

Required Education Masters Degree or equivalent plus at least 5 years
related experience.
Required Experience Minimum of five years of academic operations and
budget management experience. Experience with budget needs of Nursing programs
preferred.
