Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, ARC CoE in Synthetic Biology, you will:

  • Initiate, develop and manage strategic relationships with philanthropic, government and private organisations with the aim of creating strategic alliances, promoting the research expertise within the University, and securing collaborations and funding

  • Consult with strategic partners to understand the needs and opportunities for collaborative research, contract research, consultancies, and tenders and identify emergent/current trends in the industry in shaping strategic directions of the Centre

  • Identify and triage research projects demonstrating translational impact or commercialisation potential; to assist these teams with connections for legal advice, business services, financing and strategic partners to support the emergence of spin off companies from the Centre

You will be comfortable in a stand-alone role providing all levels of business development support and administration support across business activities. More broadly, you will be a strategic thinker and relationship enabler who is confident and adaptable and has the demonstrated ability to translate strategy into operational plans and guide others in the implementation of these.

You will possess strong business acumen, conceptual, analytical, and problem- solving skills and be known for your sound judgement and decision making. You will be skilled at negotiating and managing relationships to achieve organisational goals. You will be familiar with how government funding affects research funding and commercialisation opportunities across a diverse range of stakeholders and be comfortable nurturing a collaborative and cooperative work environment across a complex variety of stakeholders in a service-oriented environment.
