Job Summary
The Business Analytics Analyst II is responsible for designing, developing,
testing, and enhancing SAS reporting and analytics environment. Serving as a
hands-on data modeler, data analyst, and report developer. Responsible for
supporting and maintaining the SAS service environment across all layers of
usage. Supports department and campus executive leadership with data analysis,
often in matters of high sensitivity and urgency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies, designs and creates predictive/statistical data models and
visualization using SAS, Python or R. Analyzes and validates data, creates
reports and dashboards using SAS, and SQL.
Models multi-dimensional data within the analytics data warehouse.
Provides consultation and programming guidance to other analysts and
campus data stewards.
Maintains and monitors SAS reports/dashboards health, tests and implements
customization to enhance in BI/reporting development.
End-user consultation, training and report/dashboard development.
Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics
or related discipline with five plus (5+) years in SQL programming.
In-depth knowledge of data mining in SQL data environments.
Experience in developing data models.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people in all levels of the
organization.
Experience in a data analysis, data driven research and/or predictive
analysis role is required.
Ability to prepare and present reports and dashboards to diverse audiences
is required.
Displays attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel), SharePoint.
Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication
(verbal and written) skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics,
Business Analytics and/or ten plus (10+) years in
programming/statistics/data science focused field in higher education.
Experience with SAS programming, data model development in SAS ecosystem.
Predictive/statistical data model building using machine learning with
SAS, Python and/or R. Experience with NLP, text data analytics are all a
plus.
Experience in report writing with LaTeX or similar tools.
Experience in predictive modeling, metrics and dashboard design as well as
providing executive summaries of data analysis as well as strong
presentation/training and data storytelling skills.
Experience with statistical techniques like regression and predictive
modeling, data mining, text analytics, survey sampling, and data
collection strategies.
Use a variety of established quantitative and qualitative methods
(including surveys, focus groups, database mining, etc.) to gather,
analyze, and interpret data and derive useful information for key business
initiatives, working across and synchronizing multiple data sources.
Five plus (5+) years demonstrated expertise in statistical applications
and tools such as SAS, R, and Python.
