Detailed Description:

The Integrated Engineering (IntE) Department at the University of San Diego is looking to hire one adjunct instructor in the Fall 2023 semester to teach an introductory biomechanics course.

Our Biomechanics course (GENG431) serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of biomechanics. It includes the application of mechanical engineering principles to understand how humans and tissues function, are damaged, and can be repaired by the body and external treatments. Research and methods in biomechanics are considered throughout the semester. Course meeting time is dependent on instructor's availability. The course can either meet 3x/week (MWF for 55 minutes/session) or 2x/week (MW or TTh for 80 minutes/session).

This course is to be taught fully in person with no remote option for either students or instructor. The first day of class is Wednesday, August 30, and the last day is Monday, December 11, with final exams scheduled from December 13-19.

Instructor responsibilities include: lecture preparation (we have some course materials to share), conducting lecture, grading student work, and holding 1.5 hours of office hours each week.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in biomedical engineering or a related field.
  • One or more years of experience in biomechanics.
  • A strong interest in teaching undergraduate-level courses.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.

    Posting Salary:

    $2,092.50 - $2,185 / unit taught

    The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
