Description

The Research Assistant III is expected to participate in and contribute to ongoing research in fish biology as part of a National Science Foundation grant project. They will work closely with the grant Primary Investigator on experimental design, setup, and execution, as well as managing undergraduate research students. Their responsibilities will include organizing equipment and supply purchases, calibrating scientific instruments, performing minor surgeries, analyzing experimental data, preparing manuscripts, managing undergraduate research students, animal husbandry, and presenting research findings at scientific meetings. They are expected to be highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of working independently, as well as proficient in supervising undergraduate research students.

Required Qualifications
  • Completed or will finish in six months or less a Bachelor's of Science Degree in biology/zoology or a related field.
  • Advanced working knowledge of biology, particularly in animal physiology and behavior, fish and wildlife biology.
  • Extensive experience working in the field.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB.
  • Proficiency in analyzing scientific papers.
  • Experience in scientific writing.
