Biology Instructor

Position Information

Position Status Full Time Department School of Health Sciences General Summary

Ability to teach General Biology courses for Science majors and non-Science majors through traditional, hybrid, and online course delivery, to successfully recruit students for the Biology program, and to lead students to success.

Specific Position Duties

1. Teach assigned courses in the curriculum; 2. Teach face-to-face, online, hybrid, and other classes as needed, using Odessa College instructional technologies including Blackboard Collaborate; 3. Lead and actively participate in student recruitment, advising, and retention activities as well as participate in various departmental and campus-wide committees and initiatives; 4. Become an active member of our community through participation in community events, engagement in community service, and development of effective relationships with professionals throughout the community; 5. Teach CollegeNOW® and CollegeNOW® Academy (Dual Credit) classes; and 6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree with 18 or more graduate hours in Biology from a regionally accredited institution; Demonstrated knowledge in the use of current and emerging technologies for instruction; Ability to teach all courses in the Biology curriculum; Ability to teach students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds; and Ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.

Preferred Qualifications Reporting Relationship Work Hours College Work Hours, assignment may include evening or weekend hours.
