  • Abstract:

    A competition is open for the award of a research scholarship for a master enrolled in a course not leading to an academic degree in the scope of the project Lisboa-01-0247-FEDER-072624, AgWearCare - Wearables for Monitoring Working Conditions in Agroforestry, taking place at LEAF, of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, funded by COMPETE 2020, to develop the following tasks: support to the development of the project, namely data acquisition, field measurements regarding cultural operations and related tasks, support field work and testing, and preparation of protocols and dissemination of results.

    Call for applications for research grants (1 vacancy)

    A call is open for the award of a research scholarship for a master enrolled in a course not leading to an academic degree in the scope of the project Lisboa-01-0247-FEDER-072624, AgWearCare - Wearables for Monitoring Working Conditions in Agroforestry, taking place at LEAF, of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, funded by COMPETE 2020, to develop the following tasks: support to the development of the project, namely data acquisition, field measurements regarding cultural operations and related tasks, support field work and testing, and preparation of protocols and dissemination of results, according to the following conditions.

    TYPE, DURATION OF FELLOWSHIPS AND PERIOD IN WHICH THE FELLOWSHIP IS AVAILABLE

    The call is for the award of a Master Scholarship, with an expected duration of 12 months, starting 12/2021.

    2. PLAN AND PLACE OF WORK

    The activities to be developed have as objectives: 1) preliminary study, including survey, delimitation and refinement of the requirements for acquisition of data to be collected in the field; 2) data acquisition, field measurements relating to cultural operations and related tasks; 3) support the development of work and field trial in conjunction with the project partners; 4) treatment of the data collected and critical analysis of the results; 4) preparation of field protocols to be adopted; and 5) dissemination of the results. The grant holder must also participate in the consortium meetings and provide support in the preparation of the project's technical reports. The work will be carried out at the LEAF study centre of the Higher Institute of Agronomy, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Gonçalo Rodrigues.

    3.SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

    The applications should be formalised by sending a letter of application, with the reference "AgWearCare", accompanied by the following documents Curriculum Vitae, copy of qualification certificate and other supporting documents deemed relevant.

    Application deadline: The application period will be from 22 November to 6 December 2021.

    Exceptionally, in duly justified situations, the proof of enrolment in a study cycle or course that does not confer a degree, the documents proving the title of academic degrees and diplomas, or the respective recognition when these have been awarded by foreign higher education institutions, may be waived during the application phase for the support in question, being replaced by a declaration of honour from the applicant, and this condition will only be verified during the grant contracting phase.

    If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of Decree Law no. 341/2007, of 12 of October, regulated by Ministerial Order no. 227/2017, of 25 of July and updated by Decree Law no. 66/2018, published in Diário da República, 1st series, no. 157, of 16 of August 2018. The presentation of these documents may be waived during the application phase for the support in question, being replaced by a declaration of honour from the candidate in accordance with the proper minutes, and the verification of this condition will only occur during the contractualisation phase of the grant.

    4. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR RENEWAL OF SCHOLARSHIPS

    Scholarships may be renewed for additional periods up to their maximum duration limit, provided that, at the time of renewal, the prerequisites for their award have been met, always subject to a request being submitted, within 60 working days prior to the renewal date, accompanied by the following documents: a) Detailed report of the work carried out, including URL addresses of communications, publications and scientific creations resulting from the activities carried out, if any; b) Opinion of the supervisor on the documents referred to in the previous item; c) Work plan for the renewal period. d) Document proving the renewal of the enrolment in the study cycle required for the grant, in the case of grants associated with study cycles or courses that do not confer academic degree, except when this has already been completed

    5. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

    5.1 Required Education Level

    .2 Skills/Qualifications / Specific Requirements:

    Academic training in the area of Agricultural Engineering or related.

    Skills in the area of: data acquisition; field measurements of cultural operations and related tasks; field work and testing; preparation of protocols and dissemination of results; good knowledge of written and spoken English; computer and statistical skills in data processing and analysis; availability and autonomy to travel to field trials.

    6. FUNDING AND GRANT COMPONENTS

    The grant will be financed by FEDER, in the scope of the project NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-072624, AgWearCare - Wearables for Monitoring Working Conditions in Agroforestry.

    The value of the monthly maintenance allowance corresponds to 1 104,64 euros, to which must be added the reimbursement of voluntary social insurance (applicable to grants lasting six months or more), according to the table of values of monthly maintenance allowances, set out in Annex I of Regulation No. 950/2019. https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/TabelaValoresSMMLOE2021.pdf.

    7. EVALUATION CRITERIA

    The evaluation criteria of the selection process take into consideration the candidate's merit. Applications considered admissible will be scored on a scale of 0 to 20 on each of the following evaluation criteria:

    A - Evaluation of the Curriculum vitae, with a weight of 40%;

    B - Academic training and research experience in the area of Agronomy, with a weight of 40%;

    C - Interview, with a weight of 20%.

    The candidates will be ordered according to the weighted average of the classification obtained in each of the three criteria, translated by the following formula

    Final classification = 0.40 × A + 0.40 × B + 0.20 × C .

    9. DISSEMINATION OF RESULTS

    Form of publication/notification of results The final results of the evaluation will be publicised, through a list ordered, alphabetically, by final mark obtained, posted in a visible and public place of the Higher Institute of Agronomy, and the approved candidate will be notified via email.

    10. DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE PRIOR HEARING, COMPLAINT AND APPEAL

    After notification of the provisional list of evaluation results, the candidates with an unfavourable decision for the award of the scholarship have a period of 10 working days to, if they wish, make their statement during a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of articles 121 and following of the Administrative Procedure Code. The final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties.

    11. MODEL OF THE SCHOLARSHIP CONTRACT AND OF THE FINAL REPORTS

    11.1 - The scholarship contract must contain

    a) The identification of the grant holder and the scientific advisor or coordinator;

    b) Identification of the host and funding entity

    c) Identification of the applicable regulations, if any

    d) The activities plan to be developed by the grant recipient

    e) Indication of the duration and starting date of the grant.

    11. 2 - All grant contracts shall be written down and copies of all contracts signed shall be sent to the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P., based upon which a national register of grant holders shall be drawn up.

    11. 3 - The status of grant holder shall be automatically granted upon the signing of the contract and shall always refer to the starting date of the grant.

    11.4 - The grant holder must submit to the funding entity, up to 60 working days after the end of the grant, in electronic format, a final report of his activities containing the activities carried out and the results obtained, including the communications, publications and scientific creations resulting from the activity carried out, and respective URL addresses, accompanied by the supervisors' opinion.
