Offer DescriptionThe Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS- ULisboa) opens a call for 1 (one) research fellowship Post-Doctoral, under the project «UrbanoScenes. Post-colonial imaginaries of urbanisation: A future-oriented investigation from Portugal and Angola», coordinated by Doctor Simone Tulumello, from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) ( PTDC/GES-URB/1053/2021 ).

Under the coordination of the project PI, the grant holder will primarily contribute to the activities of the following tasks of project UrbanoScenes: finalization of Task 2 (analysis of fiction and popular culture) and development of Task 4 (analysis of public policies) and Task 5 (forward looking component). Specifically, the grant holder will carry out the following tasks: collection and analysis of qualitative data; research missions in Angola; collaboration in the writing of scientific articles and book chapters; participation in dissemination activities; preparation of reports; other tasks linked to the implementation of the project and defined by the PI.
Specific Requirements
Candidates should possess as mandatory requirements:
PhD in human geography, urban studies or any associated area, obtained less than three years ago. The academic degree required in this Call for Applications as an admission requirement cannot have been obtained at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph b) of number 3 of article 7 of the Regulations for Research Grants of the University of Lisbon, and in case it was obtained abroad, the requirements mentioned in item 13 of this Call for Applications concerning the certificates of qualifications should be taken into consideration.

Scientific Orientation: Doctor Simone Tulumello, responsible for the project under the scope of the present tender.
Duration of the grant: The grant will last 12 months, with possibility of renewal up to the conclusion of the project, but subject to the limits established in article 7, no. 6 of the FCT Regulations.
Amount of monthly maintenance allowance and Social Security:
The monthly maintenance subsidy is €1,741.00 (one thousand seven hundred and forty-one euros), paid monthly by bank transfer.
The grant holder to be hired may exercise his/her right to social security by joining the voluntary social security scheme, under the terms foreseen in the Research Grant Holder Statute, with ICS-ULisboa assuming the charges resulting from the contributions foreseen in that Statute.

Selection methods and their evaluation:
The applicable selection methods will be:
a) curricular evaluation;
b) a motivation letter, in which the candidate explains how his/her profile can contribute to the project.
The selection of the candidates will be made according to the terms of reference expressed in No. 2 of this announcement, considering
a) Curriculum evaluation, in view of the project objectives and the specific nature of the research work to be developed, valued from 1 to 10 points (55%);
b) Proven experience, considering the specific tasks to be performed in the project, valued at 1 to 10 points (25%);
c) Letter of Motivation, referred to in 13.2, paragraph c), valued at 1 to 10 points (10%);
d) Other factors considered relevant, namely publications considered relevant in the context of the project, valued at 1 to 10 points (10%).
Composition of the Selection Board: Doctor Simone Tulumello (President), Doctor Lavínia Pereira (1st Effective Member, who will replace the President in his/her absences and impediments), Doctor Andrea Pavoni (2nd Effective Member), Doctor Olivia Bina (1st Substitute Member) and Doctor Pedro Figueiredo Neto (2nd Substitute Member).
Selection process
Formalization and processing of applications:

c) Motivation Letter justifying the interest in the research project's theme and the competencies with which you think you can contribute to the project;
d) Document(s) proving that the candidate fulfils the required conditions for the type of grant, namely qualification certificate(s) of the required academic degree(s), with final average, or proof that he/she has already applied for the respective certificate(s);
e) If the academic degree of Doctor, required in the present Announcement as an admission requirement, was obtained abroad, you must submit one of the following documents
- Document proving the granting, by a Portuguese Institution, of the recognition or equivalence or registration of the academic degree; or
- Document proving that you have already applied for the recognition of the degree, which application shall be submitted until the deadline for the reception of candidatures, inclusive; or
- Declaration of honour by the candidate that she/he will obtain the recognition of the degree until the contract signature.
f) The presentation of the proof of having obtained the academic degree recognition or equivalence or the academic degree registration is a mandatory condition for signing the contract;
g) For academic degrees obtained in foreign countries, which have not yet obtained either the recognition or the equivalence or the registration of the degree, the recognition of the same is required, under the terms foreseen in Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of 16 August, combined with Ministerial Order no. 33/2019, of 25 January.
