Torrance Instructors are excellent teachers who are passionate about their subjects of study and are skilled at teaching complex and fascinating topics to young people. We are seeking to recruit new instructors and course proposals (all topics are welcome; preference for courses with a project- based, applied, and/or interdisciplinary focus) that can be guided via an online format within a 2-3 hour period. Our Spring 2021 Beyonders Challenge program will run from February through May. Dates and hours will be discussed during the interview process.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

A graduate student or professional in the field is preferred. If selected for an interview, a 10-15 minute demo of a teaching activity similar to one you would be doing with your students would be expected (essentially, a snapshot of your course). Experience teaching online courses for middle and or high school students is desired, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to teach and lead school age children. Verbally communicate well. Ability to get a task done with no oversight. The ability to teach multiple iterations of the proposed course is ideal.
