The Beverage Service Assistant position supports student-run Bistro classes, continuing education courses, and catered events, including but not limited to beverage service, maintaining inventory, cleaning & organizing of beverage service equipment and space, and assisting faculty in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensures that beverage service adheres to the principles and procedures related to state liquor license requirements and properly follows all standard alcohol handling procedures while on duty. 2. Supports Bistro classes, continuing education courses, and catered events, including but not limited to beverage service, maintaining inventory, cleaning & organizing of beverage service equipment and space, and assisting faculty in the classroom 3. Supports and contributes to a positive learning environment 4. Practices proper safety and sanitation 5. Keeps ICA staff and liquor license holder aware of needs or problems. 6. Recommends to ICA faculty and staff needed supplies/inventory. 7. Maintains a consistent and dependable flexibility to attend work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Basic understanding of culinary, wine, and alcohol services 2. Understanding of problems related to restaurant service environments 3. Ability to lift 25 pounds 4. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in a team environment 5. Ability to be flexible and respond immediately, as needed 6. Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, and understanding in stressful situations 7. Ability to communicate one on one and with groups 8. Ability to work well with others 9. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

Required Qualification

High school diploma/GED plus 6 months job-related work experience preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.

ServSafe alcohol certified or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Salary/Hourly Rate $18.00
