The University of Georgia, Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources
(https:// warnell.uga.edu/) is offering a full-time seasonal position working
with bats starting January 2022. The employee will be leading a field crew for
a research project examining winter habitat relationships of bats on managed
forest lands in the southeastern coastal plain. The primary duty will be mist-
netting for bats at multiple study sites around the Southeast, but may also
include assisting with acoustic sampling, insect sampling and data entry.
Housing and transportation will be provided while in the field, but selected
applicants should provide their own transportation to the University of
Georgia campus. Position not to exceed 14 weeks.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
The selected individuals should have current rabies pre-exposure prophylaxis
and have experience identifying bats in the southeastern U.S.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Some college-level coursework in ecology, wildlife biology, or a related

mist-netting, handling, and identifying bats.
Comfortable performing data entry and other computer-based work.
Work at night and in hot, humid field conditions where encounters with snakes,
biting insects, etc. are possible.
